New location for one of our favorite local brands : LOWELL.
With the launch of Lowell's 2017 Spring-Summer collection, the brand relocates it's new boutique, not far away from where it originally opened for the first time. But this time, into a bigger and renovated venue at 5298 St. Laurent Boulevard.
The first thing you see when you walk into the store, is the collection of handmade leather bags exposed on the wall of the receiver. Each bag has the name of a street or a neighborhood from Montreal, which inspired the creation and design of this original collection.
For the launch event, they received us with well thought cocktails made with locally handmade ginger ale syrup, which you can find in the shelves of the store. Then they invited us to design our very own leather keychain in their new open studio workshop space, right there in the middle of the store. This workshop will remain there so that customers can experience the creative and production process of the brand´s collection, as part of the shopping experience.
This new space is bigger and more open, allowing all the elements in the store to combine perfectly with an old industrial design that looks vintage, yet clean and fresh at the same time.
And since the place is bigger, the store will now offer more new products, supporting local and responsible manufacturing with its partners.
Personally I loved the store! The decoration makes you feel like you are taking some early drinks in the coolest bar in the Mile End, while at the same time shopping for the perfect gift for a friend, or for yourself (why not?). Which may be exactly what I was doing yesterday.
Nevertheless, this store is the perfect example of why the Mile End is the SoHo (NY) of Montreal. It has a cool vibe that invites you to come in and admire well-crafted products that were made with love, from Montreal.
