#TrackIsBack : Are you ready to face the tracksuit's come back?
I have a big announcement to make: The Juicy Couture track suits are making a comeback! It usually takes 15 to 20 years for a trend to rebound, that’s why we’re all in the 90’s right now. But let’s be prepared. This 2000’s trend is by far my absolute favorite. Back in the days, there were two types of girls: those who owned a juicy couture track suit (Lea and I did, of course) and those who didn’t. I feel like the main cause of it's comeback is the Kardashians. We can see Kim wearing one in her Wonderland cover photoshoot.
What does it say about being basic though? Being a basic is an expression used to describe anyone who is so obvious in everything they do or wear. So technically, if it’s kind of coming back, we still have time to wear it before being basic.
Now, I know what you are thinking: how to pick your tracksuit.
1. You need to buy both the zip-up hooded top and a pair of flared sweatpants. Short sleeved tops and shorts are also available but… no.
2. The fabric is a must and the velvet is a go to. Don’t try and be original by picking another fabric, it won’t impress us.
3. The color. The juicy suits come in a variety of color to match your ‘’unique’’ personality. You can always go with pink and purple if you categorize yourself as a proud princess and daddy’s girl. If you want to stick to your ‘’Black is my happy color’’ movement, a black velvet suit can be pretty bad. If you’re a sporty chick, I’d pick blue. Then you can be all sporty spice and fabulous. I’d reserve the green and yellow ones to the outsiders. Because they for sure want to wear a tracksuit but they don’t want to fit in. And then, there was the brown track suit. I feel like if you pick this color you are truly a pioneer of the JC comeback.
Recently, Juicy Couture teamed up with not only urban outfitters but also Vêtements official. So we know for sure it’s real. Juicy couture was the first to make the track suit a thing and put athleisure on the map. Let’s take a moment to thank them. If you’re like me, you still have your old track suit in the back of the closet ready for a rebirth. If you’re not (you suck), you can always go buy a new one, but we can all agree that vintage is life.
Did you use to wear a tracksuit? Do you still have it?
